52 Weekly Creative Writing Prompts

Sometimes it can be hard to think of things to write. Whether you write short stories, poems, or love to keep a journal or diary – the 52 writing prompts will stretch your imagination and provide you some ideas for topics to write about every week!

  1. Dear Book: Write a summary or short story about a book you’ve read.
  2. The Person You Talked To: Write a quick little poem or story about the last person you spoke with.
  3. Mind, Body, & Spirit: Write something that would motivate others or self
  4. Darkness and Brightness: Write a poem or journal entry inspired by what you can or can’t see.
  5. Food: What’s for breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Or maybe you could write a poem about that time you met a friend at a café or coffee shop.
  6. Love at First Sight: Write about two people seeing each other for the first time.
  7. Wonders of the World: Choose one of the natural wonders of the world and write about it.

  6. Encouraging Words: Find an encouraging word, such as determination, confidence, and etc. Define what that word means to you.
  7. Great Minds and Souls: Searching inward and write about it.
  8. Write Anything Anywhere: You can find some interesting storylines anywhere to inspire your writing.
  9. Good Vibes: What makes you smile? What makes you happy? What makes you want to change? What makes you inspired?
  10. Sounds and Images: Walk outside anywhere for about an hour. Write down how you feel.
  11. Puzzle and Problem: Write about putting together the pieces of puzzles and trying to solve a problem. What makes you move forward?
  12. Coffee & Tea Time: Write about your leisure time! How do you like to spend your time when you have nothing much to do?
  13. What You Want to Learn: Write a proposal about how you want to start learning a new thing or skill.
